Arizona Smokers' Helpline (ASHLine)

 

 

 

Established at the University of Arizona in 1995, the ASHLine is a public service entity funded by the state tax on tobacco products. ASHLine consistently ranks in the top ten among all state-funded quit lines across the country for the percentage of enrolled clients who successfully quit. Every state in the United States is required to provide tobacco quitting helpline services, and the ASHLine provides those services in Arizona. Tobacco quitlines, such as the ASHLine, have helped reduce tobacco use for decades while saving the healthcare system millions of dollars in averted health care costs by providing accessible, convenient, and evidence-based services to state residents.

ASHLine is open to residents within Arizona interested in quitting tobacco who are Medicaid beneficiaries, uninsured, or privately insured individuals whose insurer or employer contract with us. When you call in, we start the process of matching you with a Quit Coach. Our Quit Coaching is customized to each person individually, one coach throughout the program, so any special circumstances that might affect your ability to quit are taken into account.

Services are tailored to meet specialized populations including pregnant/postpartum and services to those with behavioral health conditions. Assistance to quit smokeless tobacco, vape, and e-cigs are also provided.  All our services are available in English and Spanish.

KEY ASHLINE SERVICE COMPONENTS

 

1. Clients enrolled in services are assigned to a quit coach, a Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS), to support their quit journey

2. Clients and coaches create a strong therapeutic alliance which increases client satisfaction and results in higher overall quit rates.

3. Enrollment and coaching staff are fluent in English and Spanish languages.

4. Coaches help patients reduce use of any tobacco product including cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes or vapes.

5. We provide pharmacy technical support when fulfilling over the counter nicotine replacement therapy for our clients.
